This Father’s Day, Remember the Fathers Serving Far From Home
As we gather today to celebrate Father’s Day with our dads, grandfathers, husbands, sons, and other father figures, let’s also take a moment to remember the thousands of military fathers who are unable to be home with their families.
Across the globe, American service members are standing watch, deployed at sea, serving overseas, training in remote locations, and answering the call of duty. While many families are enjoying backyard cookouts, opening gifts, sharing meals, and making memories together, these fathers are spending Father’s Day separated from the people they love most.
Military fathers miss birthdays, holidays, school events, sporting games, family dinners, and countless everyday moments that many of us often take for granted. Their commitment to serving our nation frequently requires sacrifices that extend well beyond the individual in uniform—it affects spouses, children, parents, and entire families.
Today, while celebrating the fathers who are sitting beside us, let’s also honor those who are serving far from home. Their dedication to both family and country reflects a level of selflessness and sacrifice that deserves our deepest gratitude and respect.
To all military fathers—whether currently serving, deployed, retired, or veterans—thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering devotion to your families and our nation.
Happy Father’s Day. May we never forget the dads who cannot be home today.
